Review: Birthdays of a Princess by Helga Zeiner

Title: Birthdays of a Princess
Author: Helga Zeiner
Genre: Thriller
Publisher: POW WOW Books, Canada
Format: E Book
Source: Partners In Crime
My Rating:

To be famous and be admired by total strangers can be very dangerous.

Her little girl has always been her princess. In fact, she was so lovely, Melissa entered her toddler into child beauty pageants, making her a star from an early age. But her dreams and hopes are shattered one October morning, when Melissa watches a breaking news story on television. A young girl has been filmed by bystanders, committing a brutal assault in broad daylight in a downtown Vancouver Starbucks…and it looks like the girl is her daughter.

From this moment on, a story unfolds, so shocking, that it will hold you captive and you will find yourself reading faster and faster into the night.

My Review:

I received this book for a fair and honest review. It has been a long time since a book has effected me the way this one has. I’m so thankful its fiction. We often hear on the news about violent crimes. How often have you thought to yourself, gee I wonder what made that person snap like that? This book goes into great detail of the a little girl that is forced to do beauty pageants and so much more. I was often left shaking my head and disgusted at Melissa. She is suppose to be a mother. You are suppose to love and protect your child. Melissa is a very self centered immature person. There was a twist at the end I didn’t see coming and loved it! I was on the edge of my seat reading the last 20% of the book to see how things would end for Tia. I highly recommend this book to others. It’s a great read although the subject matter is a bit hard to read at times.

  1. Fantastic review!! I read this book and agree with everything you said. I, also, didn’t see the ending coming. I am a big fan of this author, after reading her first book “Section 132” and now this title. Can’t wait for her next book!

  2. Thank you. 🙂 This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I’ll have to look for Section 132. 🙂

  3. It is always a great thrill for an author to see such a wonderful review. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time and making the effort to read and evaluate a book.
All reviewers are such an asset to the literary world…where would we authors be without you.
A big thank you from the bottom of my heart.
