Fantasy Books

Last week I posted about the Classic Books You Should Read. You can see that post here. This list came from a goodreads list made up by users of that site. Here is the full list: Goodreads List

This week my list is for the genre of Fantasy. This is not really a genre I read. I haven’t read any of them on this list. I will have to step out of my comfort zone to read them.

Fantasy Collage

1. Dracula by Bram Stoker (this book is free for the kindle)

2. One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

3. The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

4. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

5. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by John Steinbeck

6. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

7. The Life of Pi by Yann Martel

8. The Lion The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis

9. The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

10. The Odyssey by Homer (This one is also free for kindle)

11. The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

12. The Princess Bride by William Goldman

As I said in the beginning of this post, I don’t really read books in the Fantasy genre. I tend to like romance, mystery, general fiction, true crime, drama etc. I want to step out of my comfort zone and read some on this list. I’ve seen the first two Hobbit movies. I’ve also seen the first Lord of the Rings movie. I enjoyed the Hobbit movies more than Lord of the Rings.

If you can,  you should try to step out of your reading comfort zone. You never know, you may find a book you love. Give it a try.
