One of the lessons First Things First teaches you is to date your spouse. I think this is something everyone should do. I’m in a new relationship. I’m in the stage where I get butterflies just thinking of him, I love spending time with him just talking and being goofy. Everyone knows how much fun the beginning of a relationship is.
One of my close online friends has been married for years. When I talk to her about my new relationship, she says she misses this stage. It made me stop to think, Why does it this have to be a stage to miss? Why can’t we always “date” our spouse or significant other? I think this is why a lot of relationships/marriages end. You get comfortable and stop doing the little things (and big things) you did in the beginning of a relationship that made you guys fall for each other in the first place.
Date nights are important in a relationship. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant. The important aspect is to spend time together as a couple and talk. Talk about the same things you did when you started to date. Don’t talk about:
You get the point. Just have fun and be silly.
Right now you can enter a giveaway sponsored by First Things First. You can win his/hers MoonPie t-shirts and 2 boxes of single decker moonpies. This would be a perfect date night. You can wear your shirts together and talk while eating yummy moonpies!
