Glen Campbell: I”ll Be

In 2011, when Glen Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, he joined forces with his family to fight the biggest battle of his life. Glen and his wife, Kim, made history by going public with the diagnosis – the first time a major American celebrity would share this experience with the world. The Campbell family then embarked on a short “Goodbye Tour,” but the three-week engagement turned into an emotional and triumphant 151-show nationwide tour de force.
This epic human drama about the undying bond between Glen and Kim, and their unwavering caring for each other, chronicles a story of love, resilience and the power of song.
GLEN CAMPBELL…I’LL BE ME is the true tale of how America’s greatest country star would not give up his music or his family, against all odds.
The film features those who know and love Glen, including Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton, The Edge, Paul McCartney, Jay Leno, Vince Gill, Jimmy Webb, Blake Shelton, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Steve Martin, Chad Smith and Taylor Swift among many others. Rare vintage footage and extraordinary new performances of Glen’s most beloved hits immerse this moving cinematic account in the overwhelming talent of this humble family man. With joy and a tireless sense of humor, Glen and his family live each moment in the present while preparing for the future, all while playing their music to sold out venues on a star spangled voyage spanning the country from Carnegie Hall to the Hollywood Bowl.
My Review:
I was excited about having the opportunity to review this movie. We all know Glen Campbell and his legendary music. Most of us also know he has Alzheimer’s.
Celebrities are always in the news, however not always for positive reasons. I love that Glen and Kim decided to share a very personal private matter with the public. I feel we need to learn more about Alzheimer’s. I would love for their to be a cure for this horrible disease at some point.
This movie showcases the struggles that not only the suffers from their family members go through when a loved one is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
I highly recommend seeing this movie. It’s informative and heartbreaking all in one.

  4. Toni Shoffner says:

I’ve loved Glen Campbell and his music since I was a kid, my parents had his albums playing all the time! I’ve been fortunate to have seen him in concert several times in my lifetime, the most recent a couple of years ago on his farewell tour, I’ll always remember it…. In spite of all he was dealing with, his pure talent and golden voice was still there, what a gift! May God be with Glen Campbell throughout the rest of his earthly journey…,

  5. Lisa Selby says:

I have loved Glen since I first heard “Gentle On My Mind”. I wanted to be like him, to sing and play the guitar. I took six weeks of group lessons and was told I needed private lessons, which I never took. I can’t carry a tune either, but always admired and envied Glen for his talent.

  6. vicky johnson says:

I have been a fan of Glens since 1967, I was 11 yrs old and fell in love with him. I was lucky enough to start going to his concerts in 1970 and have attented them through the years right to the last one he did in Napa, Ca. in 2012. Got to become friends with him and a lot of his family through the years. Some of the nicest most down to earth people I have ever met. I have probably one of the largest Glen Campbell collections going. Collected for over 40 years and a lot of the things Glen or band members have gave me. I cherish it very much. Glen is the greatest entertainer to ever step on stage and a very nice person who loves his fans. He will always be “Gentle on my Mind”

I’ve been a fan of Glen’s for most of my life. We’ve owned his music on LP, 45, 8-track, cassette, CD, and downloads. The news of his having Alzheimer’s has been devastating. This is a condition you wouldn’t wish on anyone. I recently sent him a photo collage card. Making it was an emotional experience. May God heal him and all those afflicted with this horrible condition!
