Home Chef takes the hassle out of dinner. They deliver fresh ingredients to make delicious dinners at home.
Home Chef was founded with a simple goal: to provide our customers with a delightful home cooking experience. Our founder, Pat Vihtelic, and his wife found it hard to make time to prepare home cooked dinners after work. Pat discovered that online grocery services only solved part of the problem — he still had to think about what was for dinner, and didn’t have time to comb the internet for recipes. More often than not, he was overwhelmed by the prospect of meal planning, and resorted to takeout.
In 2013, Pat started Home Chef by partnering with a chef to design delicious, simple-to-prepare recipes. Since then, our team has grown to include several chefs, and more than 300 employees across production, marketing, technology, product, design, and customer service. Last year, we delivered over 1 million meals, and this year, we expanded our delivery to cover 90% of the U.S. Some days — okay, most days — we can’t believe how quickly we’ve grown. But we believe that people continue to love Home Chef for the same reasons it was founded: Home Chef saves time, reduces food waste, and most importantly, brings people together around the dinner table.

Home Chef is easy to use and makes cooking dinner fun.
I’m far from a gourmet chef. I can make you food you don’t starve, but it’s not the classiest of meals. My husband doesn’t really eat much in general so it doesn’t matter much what he eats. I have a love/hate relationship with grocery shopping. I hate doing it, but I love to eat, sigh.
Home Chef is a great meal delivery service for people that are busy and don’t want to stop to shop, or people that love to cook and want to try new dishes.
I received 2 different meals to review: Steak Marsala with Parmesan Mash, and Mojito Pork Chops.
The Steak Marsala was by far our favorite. My husband helped me cook dinner the night we had the steak. He’s a big “meat and potato” guy. Here are some pictures of him slaving over a hot stove.
All of the ingredients arrived for both meals in a refrigerated box. The directions for both dishes were easy to understand. When you sign up on Home Chef you can pick what meals are sent to you. This would make a gift this holiday season for either someone just starting out on their own, or an older relative that struggles getting to the supermarket on their own.
