Are you Starbucks addicted like I am? Did you know it’s easy to make your favorite Frappuccino at home?
I’m not a big coffee drinker, but last year I tried a mocha Frappuccino for the first time. I’m a huge chocolate lover so I figured I’d be able to at least tolerate it. Tolerate? Please! I am now Addicted!
Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, I don’t have a Starbucks super close. I don’t drive so I have to rely on public transportation. My closest Starbucks is really just the little part of Barnes & Noble and they don’t take the reward card. I have to travel into the city for my fix. Not to mention it can get pricey. Thankfully it’s super easy to make them at home.
You probably already have the ingredients needed in your kitchen.
- Chocolate Syrup
- Ice Cubes
- Whipped Cream (optional)
That’s it! That’s all you need to make a delicious mocha Frappuccino in the house. Personally, I use my Nutri Ninja with the Ninja cups. I can add all the ingredients to a cup (I use the 24 oz) and screw on the blade to combine the ingredients. When I’m done, I switch out the blade for a drink lid. Now I have my Frappuccino and I don’t have an extra cup to wash!
It is super easy to make the Frappuccino. The best part? It’s very easy to adjust the ratios as you need. Want a stronger coffee taste? Use more coffee or SUPER SUPER strong coffee. Want more a chocolate taste? Simple, use more chocolate syrup!
Personally, I use this ratio:
- 2/3 cup coffee: My husband likes his strong and whatever is left I put in the refrigerator to chill. The trick to this recipe is to use COLD coffee.
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 4 tablespoon chocolate syrup
- Ice: This is the trickiest part. You need AT LEAST 2 cups of ice. If you don’t use enough ice, you will end up with more a coffee infused chocolate milk. To get that thick consistency you need lots of ice. I use old school ice cube trays to make sure I have enough ice on hand at all times.
I then add it all to the Nutri Ninja Cup and blend. I use the blend button twice. You can then top with whipped cream if you choose. I like the Whip from Starbucks but I don’t like it on my homemade Frappuccino. It’s all about personal preference.
I can now have my Frappuccino whenever I want. I can have more than 1 a day if I wanted and save a lot of money! You can make other flavors at home as well. I only drink the mocha so that’s all I’ve tried.
