Orkin Back to School Prize Pack

Back-to-school time is a great time to #LearnWithOrkin about pest prevention.

Orkin Back to School Prize Pack

It’s back to school time. That means lunches to pack, bedtimes, early wake up calls, and the dreaded homework! The fall is also a time for creepy crawly bugs and insects to invade your home looking for a nice warm place to invade.

I don’t know about your area but it’s been a very weird summer here weather wise. June was full of rain. July and August we had some rain and some very cold days. I should not have to wear jeans/sweatshirts during the day in the summer. That’s just crazy.

The spiders are causing havoc on my deck though! My husband does not stay up at my summer place with me because he works out of town a lot. At home he has a basement apartment. He is over run by spiders too. He’s even named them. He has Larry, Curly and Moe. He says I have one spider here with me named Shep. Can you tell he’s a 3 stooges fan?

I’m not sure if a chipmunk is pest but the first time I brought my husband to our family’s lake cabin a chipmunk had snuck in and was darting around the house. I was terrified and wanted it out but I didn’t want to hurt it either. We ended up using an empty clothes basket flipped upside down as a cage. My husband safely got him out with that.

  9. beth shepherd says:

We first bought our old farmhouse over a year ago. Right after we moved in and unpacked I found an unwelcome gift in my towel drawer in the kitchen..mouse droppings. It was awful! We immediately set out traps and tossed those towels. We had a pest company come out and have been coming since. no issues! yay!

  14. Once I was moving my girls room around and my oldest daughter was helping. I was moving a dresser and all I could hear was my daughter screaming, a snake just went over my foot. I thought maybe she was playing or it could have been something else. I go and look under the bed and sure enough there it was. I got my kids and ran out the house. I had to get my neighbor to get it.

A squirrel went down a vent and was running in the roof of our basement.

  16. Can’t say I have any crazy stories, but I always get freaked out by those cave crickets….the ones that look like a cross between and cricket and a spider? I’m always afraid when I go to smack them with a shoe (or whatever I have), they will jump in my face (because they can jump that high).

  23. Thank You for the giveaway… I was living in an apartment just after graduating from college, had been there about three months with no pests in sight. I was sitting on the couch one late night watching TV when I heard a rustling sound coming from the front door; went to investigate and found dozens of crickets crawling from a crack between the door frame and the wall into the apartment. I fought them off with windex spray for about 10 minutes until they stopped coming….then vacuumed up the dead. Sealed the crack with toothpaste until I could contact the manager the next AM.
