Does Scrapbooking Have to be Expensive?

scrapbooking

I’m sure everyone has heard the term scrapbooking. If you don’t already scrapbook you think, I could do that but it’s so expensive. That is only partially true. Scrapbooking can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be.

You do not have to use all of the expensive name brand supplies. The idea of scrapbooking is very easy. It’s to document the: Who, What, Where, When and Why of your photographs. It’s all about documenting your families photos. Years from now no family member is going to know that you didn’t use the hot product of the year on that page. They will just love the fact that their family photos were preserved.

The only things you need to try to use when scrapbooking are acid free and lignin free products. Acid and Lignin products deteriorate your photos at a faster rate.

Here is a scrapbook page as an example.

Showoff

This is the perfect example of  a simple page that showcases the pictures. I let the journaling speak for the page instead of a lot of decoration.

PP: My Momenta
CS: K&Company
Font: Komika Glaze
Pink Watercolor Pencil
Blue Pastel CM Pen
Journaling:
I found these old pictures of you. You were around 4 or 5 years old at the time. You have always loved to show off for the camera. You are such a free spirit. Age pictures were found 13.

Here is another example of an easy page.

PP: Hot off the press
CS: K&Company
Font: June Bug
Tag
Eyelet
Blue lagoon chalk in
Snowflakes unknown
Snowy days and glove die cut unknown
Journaling:
Every year you look forward to the 1st snow fall. You had a lot of fun sliding down Auntie’s drive way. You always complain when your butt gets cold. Silly girl.

You can buy letter stencils very cheap to use for titles. If you have the time and patience you can print out titles using fonts on your computer without a special die cut machine. You would need to use the word art option on Word to flip the text backwards. After you print it out you can cut it out with scissors or a craft knife. I use to do that a lot until I got a digital die cutter.

You can also  print out graphics, be careful though. Just because you can find unlimited images doing a google search that does not mean they are free to use. They could be copyrighted. Here is a list of links that are free to use.
