I know we don’t want to think about it, but it’s time to start thinking of back to school. What is the number one thing children share at school? Yep, germs! I can’t tell you how many times my daughter would come home sick at the beginning of the year every single year she was in school.
We all know that washing our hands is the number 1 way to help prevent the spread of the common cold. It’s hard to get kids to remember to wash their hands frequently though. Sometimes we don’t wash our hands long enough as well. You should wash your hands for at least 15 seconds. Here are a few times we should wash our hands. It may help kids to remember to wash their hands more often if you print this out and hang it by the bathroom sink, of course they would have to be able to read. 🙂
1. After coughing, sneezing or wiping your nose.
2. After bathroom use.
3. Before preparing food.
4. After handling things like the garbage.
5. Before eating.
6. After petting animals. (Who remembers to do this? I know I don’t)
7. When hands are dirty.
8. When living with or visiting someone that is sick.
Giant microbes sells a liquid soap dispenser that is shaped like the common cold microbe. It is very unique and cute! It’s a great reminder to wash our hands. The dispenser comes empty and ready to be filled with your favorite anti bacterial soap. Would you like to win one of your own? This is a great item to have for your home, or for the home with small children.
