I had the opportunity to interview one of my favorite authors. I work with Tawdra in one of my book tour groups. She is not only friendly, and caring. She is down right hysterical! I love Tawdra! Here is her interview:
Do you have a specific writing style?
I tend to write character-driven books. Rarely, if ever, does a situation inspire me; more often it is a person, with his or her quirks and foibles, and how he or she might relate in different scenarios. I also prefer dialogue over other forms of exposition. So basically, I have chatty characters!
If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Definitely Anne Rice. She is so fan-friendly, willing to chat and offer insight and advice. I love reading all her posts and opinions.
Do you see writing as a career?
Absolutely. It is almost a full-time job now. Between the actual writing, all the preparation for publishing and promotion and marketing, it’s really a full-time job for more than one person. Happily, it’s also what I love doing. I tell my readers that they make my job my joy, and it’s the truth.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
In the basic writing, not much. I enjoy just about every aspect. Overall, it’s just finding the time and energy to write the books on my planned publishing list. Oh! And I hate writing blurbs..really, really hate it.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Thank you for reading, thank you for loving the same characters I do. . .thanks for getting it and telling me that you do. I would write no matter what, but having people who read and enjoy and support make it so much more fun.
I would like to thank Tawdra for taking the time out of her busy schedule to do this interview with me.
